Product variants - Guide 6: Uploading variants as a supplier
As a supplier, you can provide product variants to Droppery either through your API connection or directly through the Droppery dashboard.
Variants allow you to group different versions of the same product, for example by size, color or material.
Before you start
Variant availability depends on your Droppery subscription.
If you would like to change or upgrade your subscription, see:
How to upgrade, change or cancel your subscription?
Product variants are supported for Shopify and WooCommerce integrations.
How do I upload variants through the Droppery dashboard?
To upload product variants, prepare a spreadsheet containing the products you want to group together.
Your file should include:
- The SKU of each product
- The variant category name used to group the products
- Up to 3 variant types, for example:
- Size
- Color
- Material
- The corresponding value for each variant
Products that belong to the same variant group should use the same variant category.
! Important: If some products within the same variant category do not use one of the variant types, leave the corresponding variant name empty for those products. For example, if most products use Color + Size + Material, but one product does not have a material option, do not enter a material variant for that product !
You can use the following template to prepare your file:
Once your file is ready, upload it through the product upload section of your Droppery supplier account.
Can variants also be provided automatically through an API?
Yes.
If your product data is connected to Droppery through an API, your variant structure can also be transmitted automatically as part of your product data.
This allows the variant information to remain connected to your existing product data flow without having to upload the variants manually through the dashboard.
How should I structure my variants?
Only group products that are genuine versions of the same product.
For example:
- One chair available in different colors → one variant group
- One T-shirt available in different sizes → one variant group
- Completely different chair models → separate products
A product can use up to 3 variant types.
Each individual variant should also keep its own SKU, allowing Droppery to identify the correct product and manage its product information separately.
